Application Process

Hurley’s School of Medical Technology admits students each September. Application materials are available at the MTIMPM web site. Application, required essay(s), Academic Course Plan and transcript(s) are to be submitted in one envelope and received by the hospital-based program by September 15. Letters of recommendation are due by October 1st. Personal interviews are required as part of the application process. Interviews are scheduled and completed by November 15th with those students who have met the course prerequisites and have submitted all necessary application materials.

Hurley School of Medical Technology applicants are scored for the purpose of the selection process. Scoring is based on the following:

  • Overall grade point average
  • Science grade point average
  • Undergraduate curriculum
  • Recommendation letters
  • Interview evaluation
  • Other considerations (work experience, professional organizations, etc.)

Students will be notified by February of their acceptance into the program by the Medical Technology Internship Matching Program of Michigan (MTIMPM). Information about the MTIMPM can be obtained at http://www.msu.edu/~mtimpm/, or by writing to the following address:
