What brought you here to Michigan?
I came here just before my residency start date on June 2013. Michigan is a perfect place to raise a family as it is beautiful and life is relatively affordable.

Why did you choose your specialty?
Internal medicine can be considered the mother of all specialties. It opens a gate for me to continue my fellowship in the future.

Family fun facts:
My wife, Zain, is a third-year Pediatrics resident at Hurley, and my daughter, Rose, is a toddler. :-) While living in Grand Blanc, we were blessed with Rose, who was born at Hurley.

What do you love about Hurley and/or the area?
Michigan is known to have tons of parks. I often go there to enjoy the beauty of nature. During berry season, we enjoy picking fresh fruit. The rest of my free time is filled with ample shopping.

Hurley is a family-based program where everybody knows everybody. Life here is smooth. I like the convenience of working at the same place as my wife. Thanks to the diversity and complexity of Hurley’s patient population, if you practice here you can easily practice anywhere.

What inspires you?
Successful people inspire me, especially those who succeed despite the obstacles they face.

What was your toughest challenge in achieving your goals - and how did you overcome it?
The toughest thing is to care for your family while immersed in a busy residency, but with the help of my wife, we are managing.

What do you miss most about home and how do you keep in touch with family and friends there?
I miss my family back in Jordan. I talk to them every day and send them tons of pictures of Rose :-) I wish they could visit soon.

What’s your favorite book, movie, music, and restaurant?
My favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption; favorite book is a series by Abdul Rahman Munif entitled The Cites of Salt; favorite restaurant is the Cheesecake Factory, especially since the opening of a brand-new one in Novi, Mich.; favorite music is by Majida El Roumi, a Lebanese singer; and I also like to listen to piano.

What’s your favorite quotation?
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Life is a dream and future is always about dreams.

What are your special talents or hobbies?
