Pediatrics, Third-Year Resident and Chief Resident
Grand Blanc, Mich.
I went to Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and did my clinical years here in Flint, Mich.
Why did you stay in Michigan?
I chose to stay because my whole family (and my husband’s family) grew up in the Flint area. I wanted to stay and work in the community I grew up in. I’ve lived in Grand Blanc my whole life (and was born in Mclaren hospital). My uncle was an attending physician at Hurley Hospital (Dr. Keith Champney), and my mother went to Hurley’s School of Nursing.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I’ve always loved working with kids (I spent 7 years of my life as a nanny during the summer) and have always had a passion for the sciences as well. I figured this was the best way to accomplish both things.
Family fun facts:
I have a husband named Adam who writes hockey articles. We have a 2-year-old son, and both of our families live in Grand Blanc, Mich. We also have a 4-year-old German Shephard/Border Collie mix named Pasha who is very energetic and playful.
What’s your favorite music?
Anything by John Mayer - though I really like Motown too! I try to catch John Mayer in concert everytime he is in Michigan.
A day spent without laughter is a day not spent at all.
I like it because it reminds me that no matter how crappy your day is, it can be made better by finding humor in whatever you are doing. I also like it because it reminds me not to take myself too seriously.
