When did you come to the U.S.?

I came to Ohio in October 2018 post-marriage as my husband works here in the U.S. I moved to Michigan to pursue my residency in IM at Hurley with the added benefit of its natural water reservoir and beautiful hiking trails, where I can enjoy my leisure time.

Why did you choose your specialty?

Internal Medicine lays the foundation of medical knowledge, helping us to understand the underlying science behind a disease, and makes us wonder about the inter-relationship of each organ system in a disease process. It makes us approach a patient holistically, giving us the satisfaction when we solve the mystery surrounding a patient's diagnosis and seeing them get better with each passing day.

Family:

My parents live in India. I have 4 siblings, and I am the youngest of the 5. I live with my husband, Vigneshwaran Selvan.

For fun:

I like gardening and bird-watching.

What do you miss most about home:

I most miss the family get-togethers, which are loaded with lots of fun and joy. But I try to attend them as much as possible with group video calls. Though not as much fun as being in person, I'm trying to get the best out of the situation.

Favorite quotation:

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.

It keeps me motivated to come out of my comfort zone and explore my possibilities to help attain success in life.
