How did Michigan become your home?
Grew up in and have lived in Michigan all my life, minus traveling to Saudi Arabia for the basic science portion of medical school. Grew up in flint. Lived in other cities. My family is from here, and my wife and family are from here as well. Love Michigan and always wanted to do residency here and live here long-term.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I loved women’s health and ob during basic sciences, as well as during my clinical rotation. After rotating in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Hurley, I knew I wanted to come to this program.
Family fun facts:
Father is from Egypt and practices in obgyn at Hurley. Mother from Italy. Wife from Yemen. I have a 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter.
When you’re not working, what do you do for fun?
Bodybuilding, basketball, soccer, football
What do you love about Hurley and the mid-Michigan area?
I have lived in this state all my life. The people and atmosphere, along with friends and family, have kept me here.
What inspires you?
My father and knowing I can help sick patients and make a difference in the world.
What was your toughest challenge in achieving your goals - and how did you overcome it?
Medical school. Hard work and perseverance.
