Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, East Lansing, Mich.

Why did you stay in Michigan?

I completed my clinical rotations at Hurley Medical Center and found that the OBGYN program offers a wealth of opportunities to get involved with education, research, advocacy and policy through Michigan State University, Hurley and the city of Flint at large.

Why did you choose your specialty?

OBGYN lends itself well to public health work, as maternal and neonatal outcomes are often used as a proxy for the health of an entire population. Labor and delivery is often the entry point for many young women into the healthcare system and thus a great opportunity to initiate lifelong health maintenance.

When you're not working, what do you do for fun?

Tennis, spending time with friends and family.

Favorite aspect of Hurley?

My favorite things about Hurley are the patients and my amazing co-residents :)
