What brought you to the United States?

Came in 2016, got married and moved here with husband, who has been living here since childhood.

Why did you choose your specialty?

Medicine is all I think of. Treating sick people and see smiles on their faces when they are cured is beyond awesome.

My parents live in Pakistan. A sister, family physician, lives in Houston, Texas. I live with my husband, Raheel Khan, and our very beautiful toddler son, Muhannad, in Grand Blanc.

When you’re not working, what do you do for fun?

Play with my baby. Shop, cook, sew, throw parties, go out to theme parks.

What do love most about Hurley?

People at Hurley are very welcoming - accept diversity and make us feel special. I feel home when I’m at Hurley.

Toughest challenge:

To abruptly become part of healthcare network in the U.S. in a matter of few months. From being an established and popular lecturer in a medical school to being an intern … it was like beginning scratch. So I set a goal, made a plan and prayed for His blessings. My family’s confidence in me boosted me and, despite being pregnant with morning sickness and fluctuating hormones, I was able to attain it.

What do you miss most about home?

Food, my people, my family. Stay in touch with FaceTime, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.

Biggest surprise about working at Hurley:

They don’t make you feel odd. People are so loving and helping, I sometimes wonder, “Are they for real?”
