2 honored by MSU CHM students

Two physicians from Hurley Medical Center were recognized for excellence in teaching recently by senior medical students from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (CHM) in March 2026.

According to Jennifer Edwards-Johnson MD, community assistant dean for MSU CHM's Flint Campus, the awards recognize excellent teaching among those who instruct medical students. The awards are not given per specialty or institution; instead, they are selected based on the total number of nominations received from the graduating students.

Each year, the graduating class of CHM Flint Campus medical students selects faculty and residents to receive Outstanding Teaching Awards. Awards are given to one paid faculty member (clerkship or assistant clerkship director), one volunteer faculty member, and usually 3-6 residents, depending on the nominations.

This year, two awards went to Hurley residents and faculty, as selected by the MSU-CHM Graduating Class of 2026:
