Hurley researchers take home awards from Flint regional forum

Eight Hurley researchers were honored in June for their work during the 2022 Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Flint Medical Community Research Forum in May.

Hurley Research Awardees

First-place case report:

  • Is it Mycoplasma Pneumonia Induced Mucositis or Multi inflammatory Syndrome Associated with COVID 19 in Children? Wad Elsheikh MD, Yaseen Rafe'e MD FAAP, and Yasmin Khundakji MD

Best study with a student as a lead author:

  • Epidemiology and Outcomes of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Patients in Flint, MI. Ryan Kenerson BS, Jim Cranford PhD, and Ryan J. Reece MD

In addition, based on their submissions to the 2022 MSU Flint Medical Community Research Forum, two people received extra awards and recognition:

Hurley Resident Investigator of the Year Award

  • Hadeel Allam MD, Hurley Pediatrics Residency

Hurley Faculty Investigator of the Year Award

  • Muhammad Jabbar MD, Hurley Pediatric Endocrinology

The annual MSU-CHM Flint research forum includes research study submissions and case report submissions from the Flint medical community, and judges score the submissions, eventually awarding prizes.
