It has been a long and competitive season. We reviewed more than 250 applications, interviewed 42 candidates and filled 3 positions. We witnessed as applicants went from mere names on a computer screen to candidates with experiences and goals that grasped our attention.

And now, we proudly and excitedly introduce to our Hurley Family and beyond the newest additions of our wonderful Combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics residency program: THE INCOMING CLASS OF 2017!

And what an experienced group it is! Here’s a little bit about each person:

• Chandra Kothuru MD: Chandra is originally from Srikalahasti, India. He attended Sri Venkateswana Medical College and graduated in 1991. He currently resides in St. George’s, Grenada, where he works as an On-Call physician at St. Augustine Medical Center (Grenada’s only 15-bed private hospital). He also works as a District Medical Officer for the Ministry of Health. He sees patients at 5 different medical facilities in the region per week, treating patients with a plethora of ailments from food poisoning to stab wounds. But he manages to find time for fun. Chandra enjoys chess, fishing and reading novels.
• Muhammad Miran MD: Muhammad is originally from Pakistan. He attended Ayub Medical College and graduated in 2010. From there, Muhammad has taken time to observe in many American States (New Jersey, North Carolina, Illinois, Texas and Michigan). Once he familiarized himself with the American Health System, he began working as a Research Professional (II) at the University of Minnesota as well as a Clinical Research Coordinator at CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital, Minn. In his free time, Muhammad enjoys watching movies, playing badminton and cricket, hiking and tracking, skiing, and cooking.
• Sarhad Najor MD: Sarhad was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and currently lives in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan–Flint for undergrad, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. From there he took time to tutor the youth in community programs in Genesee County. Sarhad left to attend University of Medicine -St. Kitts in 2016. Sarhad enjoys playing sports, cardio exercises, volunteering at the church, listening to music, and playing video games.
