James A Cranford

James A. Cranford PhD may be one of the newest faculty members in the department, but he is not new to research.

This research scientist works part time at Hurley Medical Center, mentoring research teams and helping to design and analyze research studies. He also holds the same title at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he works part time in the Addiction Center of the Department of Psychiatry, as well as in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

If his background is any indication, Dr. Cranford is well suited to his tasks.

Scholarly Activity

Dr. Cranford has taught several undergraduate courses and mentors many students, including doctoral candidates for whom he serves on dissertation committees at the University of Michigan. He also is known for his regular and guest lectures on multiple topics, his helpful contributions to many university committees (including the University of Michigan Medical School Institutional Review Board), and his careful review of articles for peer-reviewed academic journals.
