What brought you to Michigan?
I came to the U.S. to pursue advanced medical training, and Michigan stood out for its strong academic culture and commitment to diverse, community-centered care.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I chose OB/GYN because it allows me to walk with women through some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives and make a lasting difference in their health.
Family
My family lives in Mekelle, Ethiopia, and I am fortunate to have a close and loving extended family who remain a constant source of support.
When you're not working, what do you do for fun?
I enjoy hiking, playing tennis, and listening to music. These activities help me recharge and stay active outside of work.
What do you like most about Hurley?
I love the strong sense of community at Hurley and how welcoming everyone has been.
What inspires you?
Seeing how even small acts of care can make a difference.
What do you miss most about home - and how do you keep in touch with faily and friends there?
I miss my family and the close-knit community in Mekelle, Ethiopia. I stay connected through regular video calls, messaging, and sharing updates about life here.
Favorite quotation:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
This is an anecdotal moral story about an eagle and a rabbit, where the lesson is that only someone in a position of safety or privilege can afford to do nothing; otherwise there are consequences.
Special talents:
I used to represent my high school in table tennis tournaments, which taught me discipline, focus, and the value of friendly competition.
