Education:

I completed my medical school training at the University of Jordan and finished two and a half years of pediatric residency at the Jordanian Royal Medical Services in Jordan.

When did you come to the U.S.?

The first time I came to the U.S. was in 2015 when I did my elective rotations at outpatient clinics in Illinois and at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. I also did my Step 2 CS in Texas. I visited Michigan in 2019 to meet the love of my life who is currently my wife. I fell in love with Michigan, and it felt like the perfect place for me to start my family. I revisited multiple times again, then finally arrived here to start my Pediatrics Residency at Hurley Medical Center in 2022.

Why did you choose your specialty?

During my medical school pediatrics rotations, I fell in love with the field of pediatrics. Seeing those children suffer made me realize that there is nothing I want more in life than to help end their suffering. As I dived deeper into this field during my pediatrics residency in Jordan, I fell in love with it even more and I couldn't see myself in any other profession. As I spent more time with those children, I realized that the strength they have within them is much more than I could ever imagine and realized how much caring for them is a blessing. Working with children requires patience, dedication and someone who is willing to put all the time and effort possible into caring for them and I am all that. I am hard-working and passionate about becoming a pediatrician and I will not settle for anything less than providing the best care for those children.

Family

I'm here with my wife. She has many family members close by in Michigan and others a bit further in Canada. My brother is doing research at Cleveland Clinic and I have relatives in Ohio, Houston, Alabama and Canada, and in other U.S. States as well.

When you’re not working, what do you do for fun?

My family means the world to me and not even one day passes without me thinking about, missing and praying for my family back home. In my free time, I love spending time with my wife. We both love nature and enjoy exploring the outdoors. I also love visiting my brother and cousins in Ohio, and I treasure every moment we spend together. I also love hanging out with my friends at Hurley who are such a huge source of support for me.

What inspires you?

My father was, is and will always be my role model and my source of inspiration in life. Me and my siblings grew up in a cordial community and watched him, being the town's doctor, help our neighbors and be there for them at every chance he got. These experiences cultivated a flame of passion within me, which as each day passes, burns brighter, motivating and inspiring me to become a committed physician.

What do you miss most about home?

What I miss most about home is my family and friends. They were and will always be a huge part of my life and will always keep their place in my heart. Everything I achieve in life is because of the unconditional love they gave me and their continuous never ending support. I owe you all everything and I love you all so much!
