Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of urinary tract infections.
  • Identify asymptomatic bacteriuria, cystitis, pyelonephritis, CAUTI and other forms of UTI.
  • Utilize the most appropriate diagnostic workup for patients with suspected and confirmed UTI.
  • Select the most appropriate antibiotic therapy for patients based on local resistance patterns.
  • Implement pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic risk reduction strategies for recurrent UTI, consistent with IDSA Guidelines.
