Academic Specialist/Faculty in Obstetrics and Gynecology

As part of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSU CHM) Flint Campus, Hurley Medical Center is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist to join us as full-time faculty in the Hurley Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program.

About Hurley

Hurley Medical Center, Flint, Mich., has a diverse patient population, a wide spectrum of cases, and a focus on recognizing and addressing health disparities. We deliver approximately 3,000 babies per year. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is composed of a dynamic group of faculty physicians, private physicians, certified nurse midwives, and registered nurses. We have a Level III NICU and Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine, which allows us to manage high-risk pregnancies. There is opportunity to perform minimally invasive robotic surgery with the da Vinci Xi surgical system. We produce diverse and talented graduates who go on to pursue successful careers as specialists or subspecialists.

Description

The candidate must be willing and able to participate in all aspects of care, including obstetrics, benign gynecologic surgery, and outpatient clinic. Furthermore, as core faculty, the candidate must participate in the education and training of residents and medical students.

The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy with strong interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills - and a willingness to work with an underserved population.

Academic appointment

Faculty in this position may apply for an academic appointment with MSU CHM at a rank commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical coverage and resident supervision four to five days per week
  • Provide or assist in the administrative duties of the residency program
  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees
  • Participate in the formal teaching of residents and medical students
  • Participate in scholarly activities
